The Path to Sustainability for SMEs

A recent report produced by UK Finance, stated that “some 99% of UK businesses are SMEs, and around three-quarters are sole traders. And although they have relatively low environmental footprints at an individual level, they account for 43-53% of UK businesses’ greenhouse gas emissions in aggregate”. If the UK is to achieve its Net Zero goal by 2050, this key area of the UK economy will need to invest and adapt its ways of working.

Join the Centre for the New Midlands, our sponsors (Unity Trust Bank), our partners (Sustainability West Midlands) and our invited group of 20 senior leaders from across the West Midlands to discuss what the barriers are for SMEs in greater sustainability action; what is happening already across the West Midlands and what more could policy makers do to support SMEs start or accelerate their journeys to sustainability.
