On the final evening of the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, the Centre for the New Midlands, in partnership with Kagool (event sponsors) and Knights (event hosts), delivered the fourth of its in-person networking events for members and concluded the think tank’s participation in the party-political conference season.

Having attended the Labour Party conference the previous week in Liverpool, the Centre successfully hosted its biggest event to date with over 60 organisations joining the networking event to discuss and debate some of the biggest challenges and opportunities ahead for the region.  Alongside our members, The Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP (Member of Parliament for Sutton Coldfield and Co-Chair, Levelling Up Birmingham APPG) delivered a speech in which he stressed the need for collaboration across the region and the importance of the think tank in supporting policy makers to deliver ‘better’ public policy.

The think tank’s mission is to be the place where people come to ‘debate, shape and create’ a ‘better’ region and our Reimagining the Region networking events play a key role in bringing organisations together, as well as providing a bridge between elected politicians at both a regional and national level and business leaders from across the region.

Chris Smith (Founder and MD, CNM) commented,

“We were delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell as our guest speaker for this event, held in the prestigious offices of Knights in Chamberlain Square.  I would like to add my sincere gratitude to Kagool for sponsoring the event and for their ongoing support. We simply would not be able to do what we do without the support and interest of business, and I look forward to working with other partners from across the region to keep creating places and opportunities where people can come together to ‘debate, shape and create’ a ‘better’ region.”
