15oct12:00 pm2:30 pmThe Bristol Road Corridor: Creating a shared vision for Birmingham's innovation spine (Roundtable)

Event Details

The Bristol Road Corridor has the potential to become one of the most significant urban growth corridors in the Midlands and the UK.

Stretching from Birmingham City Centre through Edgbaston, Selly Oak, the University and Hospital Quarter, Northfield and Longbridge, the corridor brings together world-class research and healthcare assets, established communities, major development opportunities and significant transport investment. It is already home to some of Birmingham’s most important institutions and neighbourhoods. Yet its full potential will only be realised through stronger collaboration between public bodies, landowners, investors, developers and anchor institutions.

This invitation-only roundtable will explore how a shared vision for the corridor can unlock innovation, investment and growth, helping to transform a collection of successful destinations into a connected innovation spine for Birmingham and the wider Midlands. Rather than focusing on individual planning applications or development schemes, the session will ask: How can we create a coordinated strategy that delivers sustainable growth across one of the UK’s most important urban corridors?

This event is being delivered in partnership with our friends at Stride Treglown.

The session:

12:00 – 12:15   Arrivals

12:15 – 12:25:  Setting the Scene – Why the Bristol Road Corridor matters to Birmingham’s future

12:25 – 12:40:  The Corridor Today – Perspectives from key institutions and stakeholders

12:40 – 13:20:  Discussion:

  • How do we create an innovation corridor that is interconnected and better linked to Birmingham City Centre?
  • How can growth enhance the character and identity of places along the corridor?
  • What new partnerships, investment models and governance arrangements are needed to unlock the corridor’s full potential?

13:20 – 13:30:  Closing remarks

13:30 – 14:30: Lunch

14:30 – Close and further networking (optional)
