Event Details

The Centre for the New Midlands is delighted to be hosting a roundtable, in partnership with Entec Si and Pearl Comms, focussed on The Data Dilemma for the Housing sector: Potential and Pitfalls.

The focus of our roundtable:

The housing sector is at a crossroads when it comes to data. On the one hand, advances in digital systems, open data, and AI promise powerful insights that could transform the way homes are built, managed, and maintained. From predicting housing demand and improving tenant services, to tackling issues such as fuel poverty, safety compliance, and carbon reduction, the potential of data-driven decision-making is immense.

Yet, alongside these opportunities lie significant pitfalls. Questions of data quality and fragmented systems limit the sector’s ability to harness insights. Concerns about privacy, security, and trust—particularly when dealing with sensitive tenant information—are more pressing than ever. Meanwhile, many organisations face resource and skills gaps, making it difficult to keep pace with technological change or to translate data into meaningful action.

This roundtable will explore the “data dilemma”: how the housing sector can move from pockets of innovation to system-wide impact, while navigating the ethical, organisational, and technical challenges.

This roundtable has been specifically structured for senior leaders who have a responsibility for strategic data management (such as CTOs, CIOs, Directors of DDaT or ICT) and those who have oversee their organisation’s strategic marketing or corporate communication functions (such as Head of Corporate Services, Head of External Affairs, Marketing Director)
